Your guide to shower filters

So, I’ve had a bit of a revelation if you will. After visiting Montana, (Bozeman specifically) drinking out of the facets, noticing my skin which was *not* dry… I realized something.

We. All. Need. Water. Filters.

Period!! We have been conditioned to think that our water is totally fine. Normal. Average. How all water is! Regardless if you live in Stephens city, Winchester, Bunker Hill, Leesburg… wherever…. We need to filter our water that we are using on our skin and hair.

Whether it’s chlorine, limestone, calcium, iron… all of it is bad for our skin and our hair.

Whyyyyy are we spending $$$ on products, and oils, and rememdies, when at the end of the day, we are washing our hair in chemicals such as chlorine every single time we wash it???

We are spending money on moisturizers and lotions to help with the dryness, when we are in fact, perhaps, not even dry! Our water, in most areas, if left unfiltered is hard and not optimal for our skin and hair. However, we have been living life as it’s the norm. (Myself included)

Hard water causes hair to be brittle, stained with orange/reddish tones, dry, cause breakage, and react to lightener in negative ways.

We have to spend the time and money figuring out which option is best for us in terms of filtration of our water.

LUCKILY…. for yooou, I have already done some research!

Hydroviv Shower Filter

Hydroviv, to me, seems like the best choice, ESPECIALLY if you aren’t sure what is in your water. If you’re not sure what you need to filter out, and which filter to buy to get the best results, I think this would be a great choice.

This brand is totally cool, because based off of where you live, they build a custom solution for you based on your city water data!! They send a water filter to filter out whatever issue you have specific to YOUR water in YOUR area!

  • It’s easy to install (5 minutes or less)

  • Fits onto any shower head

  • And has a 6-9 month cartridge life

PLUS.. this company was on Shark Tank, which.. I mean we love a shark tank story :)

Jolie Showered & Filter

Ok, so let me start out by saying I am a SUCKER for good branding.

Jolie is a showerhead as well as a filter. .

Jolie is so cute and so easy to install. I love their branding, their vision, and their love and commitment to beauty

  • My main issue with my water where I live is chlorine, so this was the right choice for me. IF chlorine is an issue for you, this one is definitely worth trying out.

  • Jolie the *cutest* shower head choices. The shower head comes in different colors and the water pressure is sooo lovely. It’s like a whole spa experience. They even sent a little ceramic that smelt so lush :)

  • These filters are $33 to replace quarterly

  • If you’re a sucker for quality, a great brand, and aesthetics, Jolie is a vibeee. It makes me so happy when I shower

SO, these next two filters are just a filter you can attach to your current shower head.

Hydroviv was the same way, but I love their unique feature of sending you a filter that filters out containments specific to your water in your area (They take your address and see what the water issues are in your area blah blah blah CHECK THEM OUT!) Anywaaaayyysss…..

Aquasana

  • Aquasana offers a filter and a showerhead option OR just the filter for the showerhead

  • Aquasana has amazing reviews.

  • Max contaminant removal, removing chlorine and other harsh chemicals.

Berkey Shower Filter

Berkey is also super reputable. This shower filter removes 95% of chlorine as well as reducing the levels of hydrogen sulfide, iron, and iron oxide.

If your water is orangey, smells like sulfur, makes your hair incredibly brittle or brassy… I would try this one.

Aquasana and Berkey seem VERY similar. Choose whichever one you feel more drawn to. That goes with everything though, there is no right or wrong choice. These are guidelines to help the search!

Shower head filters are just one more step in the right direction to have the most beautiful hair possible :) and that is what I’m here to help with and promote :)
